BACKGROUND

The Dunpeal (1/2 Vampire, 1/2 human) "D" has returned!  This time he has been hired to track down Meier Link, a very powerful vampire who has abducted a girl named Charlotte Elbourne.  Charlotte's rich father is paying "D" to find her and bring her back dead or alive.  For the first time, "D" faces serious competition. The Markus Brothers, a family of Vampire Hunters, were hired for the same bounty. "D" must battle against powerful vampires, zombies and demons.
Despised by Vampires for his profession and by Humans for the blood in his veins, "D" relentlessly pursues his prey… for a price.

REVIEW

Let me start out by saying:  "This movie was freaking awesome!"  The number one thing you notice about this anime is it's gorgeous animation.  The characters are extremely detailed and beautiful.  Along with the beautiful animation, VHD: Bloodlust also feature great music.  Music that go along with the scenes well.  As for visual and music, this movie is perfect.  However the audio is not so perfect.  1st  VHD: Bloodlust is only featured in dubbed!  No Japanese w/ subtitles.  And I find myself turning on closed captioning due to the change in volume constantly throughout the movie.  Now what I mean by this is, when the characters talk (especially D) they are extremely quiet and it's hard to hear, so I crank up the volume.  But then as soon as I do, there's a giant explosion or some kind of loud noise, making me turn down the volume, and then back to turning it up again when they talk.  Know what I mean?  That sucked a lot.

Now as for the story.  I found Bloodlust to be much more entertaining than the original.  The story was wonderful and for those of you who have seen the original.  You'll be glad to hear that Bloodlust is a direct continuation.  For those of you who haven't seen the original, it's ok you really don't need to see the first to understand Bloodlust.
As for the action in this movie.  I founded it decent.  Because many of the battles looks like their going to last a while, a great battle scene.  But instead they end in like 1/2 a minute!  But when the battles do last, they're quite entertaining.  And the Marcus Brother's weapon work is pretty neat to watch as well.  Good eye candy.
VHD: Bloodlust is also a serious movie.  But with just the right amount of comedy thrown in there by "D"'s hand.  Who cracks jokes every once in a while during the movie.  So it deeps the movie from being totally dull.  There's also just the right touch of drama (love) thrown in there.  To make this movie pretty much perfect.

All in all, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is a wonderful movie, and should definitely be in your collection.
